Maybe you’re a writer, and you want to write the great American novel.
Well, in order to do that, you have to write every single solitary day.
Now, some writers say, “I only write when I’m motivated, when the spirit moves me. When the muse speaks to me. That’s when I write.”
Well, I’ve got a sticky note over there that says, “I only write when I’m motivated, I just happen to be motivated every day at 8 a.m.”
Put in the reps.
[H]ow [do you] stop layering these feelings: depression, shame about depression, anger about shame and depression. How do you deal with that?
Well, one of the biggest things that I’ve learned, that I’ve had to learn how to do, is to forgive myself for not being able to get out of it whenever my mental health is in one of those places.
And my mental health goes to those places. It’s not always “The Postivity Powerhouse!” Sometimes it’s “The MANIC Powerhouse!” Sometimes it’s a “Super Depressed Powerhouse.”
Sometimes it’s the “Panic Attack Central Powerhouse!”
It’s not always sunshine and rainbows and, you know, ladybugs and whatever.
Sometimes, you know, depression will take me down to a dark place and there’s nothing I can do about it.
It just is what it is and I’ve gotta deal.
Jimmy Johnson is a former pro-football coach, he’s an NFL commentator, and he’s an inductee in the NFL Hall of Fame. He is a big freakin’ football deal.
And he said that the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra because if you don’t see the words written down, you don’t realize that extraordinary has that ‘a’ in there to make it extra-ordinary.
Just in case you had never seen it written down.
The mood, of course, is gonna be hopeful and optimistic, but it’s also kind of- [coughs] excuse me!
It’s also a little bit pessimistic because the best way to predict my future is to create it? Oh God.
Now what am I gonna do?
So, when it comes down to the motivation, basically, the good news is, your future is in your hands.
The bad news is, your future is in your hands?
Either way, your future is in your hands, so you may as well make the most out of it.
it makes me feel expectant, it makes me feel tenacious, unwavering and unrelenting. It makes me feel like I can do anything.
I can do everything.
I can do so much that would make me feel proud of me, because there are so many things I can do!
So, I expect that I can do them all. I’m ready to do them all.
I want to do them all. I want to dig in, do each and every little thing that I can possibly do because I want to feel proud of me.
That is such an important feeling, is pride in yourself.
“When I walk in the spot,
This is what I see:
Everybody stops and they
Staring at me.
I got passion in my pants,
And I ain’t afraid to show it.
Show it, show it, show it.
I’m sexy and I know it.”
And if that doesn’t get your excited, and up on your feet, and ready to dance, and laugh, and have some fun, then I don’t know what the hell will!
Because you are obviously dead.
If you have no passion in your pants, you have died.
And I’m not talking about sex or anything like, I’m talking about passion. I’m talking about ardent, fervent, expressive, fanatical passion.
Passion for life!
Passion for your family!
Passion for work!
Passion for hobbies!
Passion for something!
It’s about living your life.
It’s about making your right now the best right now that you possibly can. Because who wouldn’t want that? If you knew that you were gonna die tomorrow, what would you do today? If you knew you only had a week left to live, what would you do? If you had a month, six months, a year, what would you do? How would you spend your time? Is that how you’re spending your time right now? Why the hell not?
“But we were never lonely, and we were never afraid when we were together. I know that the night is not the same as the day, but all things are different.
But the things of the night cannot be explained in the day because they do not, then, exist. And the night can be a dreadful time for lonely people once their loneliness has started.
But, with Katherine, there was almost no difference in the night, except that it was an even better time.
If people bring so much courage to this world, the world has to break them to kill them.
So, of course, it kills them. The world breaks everyone, and, afterward, many are strong at the broken places, but those that will not break, it kills.
It kills the very good, the very gentle, the very brave, impartially.
If you are none of these, that you can be sure, it kills you, too. But there will be no special hurry.”
When it comes to mindset, this quote makes me feel ready to go forth and be awesome.
Are you ready to go forth and be awesome?
‘Cause, you totally should be, like, right now.
You should be ready to shut this off, right now, and turn off your computer, and go forth, and be awesome!
Or, leave your computer on if your, you know, passion is a computer-related thing. Like, if you’re a blogger, or a vlogger, you should go forth and do that!
You should be ready to do amazing things. You should be looking forward to seizing the day. Carpe diem, seize the day.
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do.
It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill.
It will make or break a company, a church, a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.
We cannot change our past.
We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.
We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes.” – C. Swindoll
So, the questions we’re asking today are basically, “Who am I? What am I doing here?”
Well, I just told you that I’m Kriss and I’m the positivity powerhouse, so that pretty much covers that.
What am I doing here? Well, you’re listening to a podcast, so it’s a safe bet I’m podcasting.
Or, you might also be watching this video on YouTube, in which case, I’m videoing.
OR, you could be reading the transcript, in which case, I’m totally typing everything right now.
So, that’s what I’m doing here.
